This statue is cast using a proprietary concrete mix. Nichols Bros. Stoneworks mix design allows our craftsmen to achieve a very high degree of detail and yet unlike many of our competitors, is able to withstand freezing without damage. This will provide the end user with years of enjoyment. Although our products are weatherproof, many of our pieces are used indoors in homes or offices.

Each piece is hand finished in one of five permanent stain colors. These finishes will not fade or wash away.

Our English Sandstone Accent Stone Bird Baths Garden Collection is manufactured using a technique called Dry-Casting. This method has been around for centuries and has proven itself to be a durable, attractive and high quality alternative to other materials (such as terra-cotta, plastic, clay, fiberglass or concrete).

The nature of our stone bird bath statues has a number of advantages, it has the appearance of carved stone at a fraction of the cost, and it ages much like natural stone, developing a rich patina quite rapidly. Our most recent stone bird bath design improvements and curing methods have given our stone greatly increased strength, weather tolerance and resistance to abrasion.

This patio furniture is manufactured from Chinese Oak which has been kiln dried to less than 1% — virtually no warping or cupping. Stained with a light oil for additional weatherproofing from the elements and gives a uniform appearance to the wood. Mortise and tenon joinery using Swedish exterior grade Casco Nobel glue. Solid brass fittings with high quality fasteners gives superior holding strength.

Fully assembled.

Chinese Oak wood is dense finer grained hardwood about 5% harder than Red Oak. The heartwood is light brown and some boards have a lighter pinkish tint to them. Chinese Oak is a more durable material than Red Oak and is ideal for outdoor furniture. The tannic acid in the wood protect it from fungi and insect attack.

A trellis is a framework designed to support a climbing plant or plants such as ivy, grapevines, or sweet peas.  A trellis attached to a roof or building exterior can also be called an arbor or pergola.  Different types of trellises are available for an assortment of appropriate plants and locations.

A metal trellis may not be the best choice to accommodate a vining plant.  The sun can make the metal structure hot enough to stunt the growth of certain plants.  A garden trellis constructed of wood may be more beneficial for plants that are incapable of resisting cold, such as beans, sweet peas, and morning glory.

The Adirondack chair is a type of chair that you usually see outdoors.  The prototype for the current Adirondack chair was designed in 1903 by Thomas Lee, who was vacationing in New York with his family and tested the first designs on them.  The original chair was made with eleven pieces of wood cut from a single board with a straight back and seat set at a slant to sit better on the steep mountain inclines of the Westport, New York area where the Lees were vacationing.  The design also included wide armrests which have remained as one of the hallmarks of the Adirondack-style chair.

The Adirondack chair of today has evolved to feature a round back and contoured seat.  The Adirondack design has also been used to make other kinds of furniture, such as gliders and love seats.   Adirondack chairs are becoming increasingly common as outdoor cafe seating because their flat armrests are capable of serving as trays for food and beverages, providing individual seating for diners, but eliminating the need for tables.
